Oh, to see the wonder of God's beautiful world through the eyes of an innocent child!
my great-niece drew
chalk art on the driveway.
Hearts and flowers
dazzled in purple and red,
she jumped on a hopscotch.
The precious two-year-old
laughed as she plucked
the first jonquils of spring.
They sparkled like sunrays
as she gave me a bouquet.
A flock of robins cut
through the azure skies
and spread an orange quilt
across the greening field.
The thrill of spring
yielded a joyful face,
she did not waste a moment.

It's beginning to look a lot like spring here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The little jonquils have popped up, the maples swell with red buds, the forsythia bush is bursting forth like yellow bells, the grass is greening, and the birds are singing their little hearts out with joyful tunes. I love spring.
Wishing all my blogger friends an awesome springtime!

You captured the essence of spring's joy and warmth in your lovely poem, Brenda. I could visualize your niece's delight in picking the daffodils. Beautiful!
Beautiful poem and photo! Spring is such a joyful time. Here in Michigan the snow is melting but no flowers or buds yet - but it's coming!
Hi Brenda,
Thank you for your recent comment on my blog. I look forward to enjoying your poems and blog as well. My father's family is from East Tennessee, specifically Scott County. Although I'm a Californian, I proudly carry a bit of Appalachian heritage that my dad and my grandma passed down to me.
What a beautiful way to remember the first day of March, Brenda. Thank you for sharing...and stopping by my blog.
A lovely Spring poem and beautiful flowers!! Isn't it wonderful to be alive and greet Spring again!!!
What a beautiful photo. My mom always said Springtime in Atlanta is a blessing not a season!
No sign of Spring here yet but it is a little early! Beautiful photo of the daffodils!
I am waiting excitedly for the daffodils and forsythia to bloom.
What a beautiful post, Brenda! I love Spring! It is such a hopeful season. Love that poem, too!
It sounds beautiful.
Good to celebrate. I have twin great-nieces about that age for double fun. Grace be with you.
Oh, how I love spring, it always brings hope! Such a great poem, thanks. It kind of brings a jump to our step :)
