Hamilton Gardens

Hamilton Gardens is the botanical jewel of the North Georgia Mountains.  This botanical paradise bursts with dogwoods, tulip magnolia, native azaleas, lady slippers, trillium, and over 2,000 rhododendron blooming from early April to late May in Hiawassee, Georgia

Dogwoods adorn the banks of beautiful Lake Chatuge.  Boats buzz on the lake as you view the stunning view from picnic tables.

Tulips put on a colorful show at Hamilton Gardens.

Thousands of rhododendrons and azaleas burst forth like rainbows.

This Mallard duck and wood duck stroll across the shore looking for handouts from people.

My sister and I enjoyed touring Hamilton Gardens very much on Easter afternoon.  What a perfect, sunny day to get outside and savor God's creation after attending an uplifting service at Pilgrim Baptist Church that morning.

Dogwood Winter

Wearing white crosses,
dogwoods wash the mountains
with snow; a cold snap.

The bluebirds give a cantata,
trillium dance in pink slippers
among the fern; a cold snap.

Lambs frolic in verdant pastures,
jonquils dot the banks
of Hyatt Mill Creek; a cold snap.

Butterflies sip nectar
from blankets of purple phlox,
fragrance wafts on a chilled breeze.
                    --Brenda Kay Ledford

Granny Trese Shook Lee said when the dogwood trees bloom and we have a cold snap, that it's "Dogwood Winter."

The old-timers had names for these cold spells that came in spring.  "Blackberry Winter" will come when the blackberries bloom.

I wish my blogger friends a very Happy Easter!

The Ten Commandments are displayed on a hillside at Fields of the Wood.

This chapel overlooks the Biblical Theme Park at Fields of the Wood.

These crosses remind us of the real meaning of Easter that Jesus Christ died to save us from our sins and that He Lives forevermore!

Here's the Psalm Wall at Fields of the Wood.

Here's the Empty Tomb!  Jesus Christ is the resurrection and life!

I hope all of my blogger friends have a blessed Easter!

Let us celebrate the living Lord during this Holy Season!
