Blue Ridge Mountain Spring

On the first day of spring,
the ghost-print of a Full Sap Moon
shimmies over Shewbird Mountain,
the yellowbell bush ringing a tune.

The ghost-print of a Full Sap Moon,
a carpet of purple thrift,
the yellowbell bush ringing a tune,
willow trees spread lacy fingers.

A carpet of purple thrift,
daffodis dot the creek banks,
willow trees spread lacy fingers,
the bluebirds lifting melodies.

The promise of hope
shimmies over Shewbird Mountain,
life rising from earth's tomb;
on the first day of spring!

I love these words and the beautiful photos you've put with them. Your header photo looks like some streams we have along the hay field.

Hi Brenda Kay,
Your Blue Ridge spring photos are gorgeous, and your poem is lovely. I especially like your reference to a full-sap moon and a carpet of thrift as they are beautifully descriptive. Thank you for sharing your poem with your readers. Have a great weekend!

I like that - life rising from earth's tomb, very true, especially after a winter like we've all had! Beautiful photos and word pictures.

Beautiful poem Brenda. You captured it so well and I love those beautiful photos also. Gives me spring fever just looking at them. I think everyone is looking so forward to spring this year. It's a late one for sure. I hope you and your mother are doing ok and I wish you both a Happy Spring. Susie

I love it, Brenda. I've never seen a poem written that way. My daffodils have bloomed! Love the line that says, 'shimmies over Shewbird Mountain.'

Your photos of spring flowers are so refreshing to see. We're experiencing a muddy landscape in the aftermath of melting snow. :)

Gorgeous, Brenda. I noticed that you all have so much more spring colors there than we do here. We have a little ---but not nearly as much as you have. Lovely photos. Can't wait til we get some color here...

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Brenda, what perfect words and photos for a season that I'm so, so glad has 'officially' arrived, even if Old Man Winter is telling us otherwise!

I hope you are doing well, and your week is ending on a good note!
